What is Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling and psychotherapy can provide you with a confidential space to talk about your problems and feelings in an empathic, non-judgmental and safe environment.

This can provide clarity and support when you feel particularly vulnerable and can help you overcome issues that are causing you emotional pain, long-term. This being said, you don't have to be struggling to see a psychotherapist, just as you you might attend to your physical health proactively, the same approach can be taken for your mental health and wellbeing.

How do I work with clients?

I provide both short and long term work for individuals, couples and groups.

During our first meeting we will explore and determine what's right for you. We may decide to work in a structured focussed way or more of an open exploratory way.

I provide a safe and confidential environment to help clients make meaning for themselves in order to progress and develop in life, exploring relationships, behaviours, thoughts and feelings that may be getting in the way of happiness. I work relationally, drawing on a wide range of approaches relevant to the clients I'm working with. These approaches include, but are not limited to:

  • Transactional Analysis

  • Psychoanalysis

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

  • EMDR (click here for more information on EMDR)

  • Ecotherapy (walk and talk therapy, Devon only)

I am trained in Transactional Analysis and hold an MSc in Psychotherapy. I adhere to the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and British Association of Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP) Code of Ethics and am a registered/accredited member of these organisations.
